Our Teaching Staff and students are encouraged to bring research, technical and experimental projects from Government and Private sectors and make them reach their logical end and earn for themselves and their departments.
Internships
The internship is an opportunity for the students to understand what they have learnt in the classrooms and how it is practised in organisations. Employers are eager to know what you did during your Internship as they consider it equivalent to your Industry experience. Students who do not take it seriously are generally left behind in the competition during job placements and campus hiring. Looking at the importance of it, all the students at Kalinga University are provided with mandatory Internship opportunities and they are also encouraged to take up projects or Internships in between their semester breaks as well. It is also an opportunity to do networking for the future.
Competitive Examination Coaching
Most top Institutions and public and private sector employers conduct entrance / competitive examinations as a selection criterion followed by interviews of the shortlisted candidates. Kalinga has tied up with NIIT, BT and many organisations and individuals to help you prepare for competitive examinations like CAT, MAT, CLAT, GATE, UGC – NET, CSIR – NET. Students are also provided coaching for job-based competitive examinations for Corporates, Banking PO, SSB, UPSC, State Public Service Commission jobs etc. This is free coaching; it not only saves you money but also prepares a foundation for cracking examinations. This Coaching is spread over the entire course duration of yours. Students are advised to take up one among many available choices. The objective is to train you beforehand so that you can land up in top institutions or top jobs post your studies. These programs also certify you on successful completion annually and enrich your resume.
Department Co-Curricular Activities
Co-Curricular activities are conscious efforts on the part of the department to ensure that you gain additional skills. Depending upon your program, most co-curricular activities are planned to enhance your listening, reading, writing and spoken language skills. In addition, these activities also give you an opportunity to research, find, locate relevant information and present it in the most professional way. These activities focus on connecting conceptual topics with actual happening in Business and Industry. These activities are delivered in the form of seminars, workshops, guest lectures, projects and assignments. In Co-Curricular activities, you learn to understand concepts, data, data analysis, business plans, legal aid, legal advice, testing, quality assurance, and experimentation, to draw findings, trends and conclusions, predict outcomes, alternate plans or methods or materials to execute and problem-solving.
Department Extra Curricular Activities
Extra Curricular activities are designed to build up engagement, participation, contingency handling and leadership qualities in you. These are the qualities every employer seeks during hiring. Extra-Curricular activities consist of membership in various clubs engaged in art, craft, debates, public speaking, and competitions at Inter University and Intra University levels in various fields other than academics. These are a mix of activities, seminars and workshops on social causes, social inequalities, moot courts, moot nations, budget, music, dance, university band, campaigns related to public health, online education, adult education, social media presence, social media strategies, etc. These activities include your interaction with various national trade and Industrial associations. Kalinga University is a member of CII, PHD Chamber of Commerce, ASSOCHAM, Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Young Indians (YI), Vigyan Prasar and many such organisations and NGOs; these platforms provide you opportunities to interact with Industry Leaders, Government Departments, IAS Officers, Public Administration to understand the ecosystem which surround us as well as provide you with an opportunity to network. The University has adopted five nearby villages and takes care of their needs on education, clean water, legal aid, health check-up camps and first aid procedures, nukkad nataks for creating awareness about social issues, etc with the help of faculty and students.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of Indian army. It consists of all the three wings namely Army, Airforce and Navy. The cadets are given military training in small arms and parade. Students of Kalinga University can opt for NCC voluntarily and it is a great value addition in terms of service to the nation, discipline and physical fitness. It’s a great place for young undergraduates to learn leadership. Moreover C certificate holders of NCC can get direct entry to the relevant wing.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
It is a Government of India-sponsored public service organisation under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. National Service Scheme (NSS) is beneficial to both students as well as society in different ways. NSS helps students to grow individually and also as a group. Its value addition is in terms of making the students confident, developing leadership skills and gaining knowledge about different people from different walks of life through Social and Community Services.
Sports and Fitness
University looks forward to leadership in sports and fitness and promoting sportsman spirit among students. University has an ultramodern Gymnasium and a Sports Complex consisting of Basket Ball Court, Volley Ball Court, Badminton Court, Hand Ball, Cricket Pitch, Football Ground and all popular games infrastructure with coaches. Apart from outdoor sports, University has recreation rooms consisting of Indoor games like chess, carrom, pool etc. University is proud to have one of the best teams in football, Cricket and Basket Ball in the state. Kalinga University also provides martial arts training to interested students. Sports add value to you in terms of participative management, teamwork, leadership, organisation skills and above all, fitness and sportsman spirit. Kalinga University encourages its students to adopt a minimum of one sports activity and also organises three days Inter-University and three days Intra-University sports festivals every year at Campus.

There is an active career guidance department which guides students about various available options for higher studies in India and abroad and available job options in the Public and Private Sectors.
Placements and Grooming
University has an active training and placement department. The department prepares and grooms students for Internships and final placements and continuously works to make available decent opportunities for the same. Grooming of the students start from the first semester itself, starting with mannerism, etiquette, and professional attire; they are further trained about types of organisations, job profiles, employer expectations, recruitment processes taken up by employers, resume design, mock Interviews, Mock Examinations, final Interviews etc.
It is one of the most sought-after value-added services provided by the University.
Cultural Diversity and Activities
Students from 25 Indian states and 20 foreign countries study at the University. This is a perfect example of wide diversity. This helps students to understand the culture of other states and countries without physically going there. The university encourages students to participate in cultural activities; all Indian and foreign festivals are celebrated here.
